The Clear Fork Colts captured their first regional championship since 2010 with a 4-3 come from behind victory over the Archbold Blue Streaks on Friday afternoon at Ed Sandy Field.

Archbold struck first in the top of the first with two runs thanks to a RBI double by Ben Bucklew and a sacrifice fly by Lathon Babcock. The Blue Streaks would add another run in the third when Toby Walker scored on a tough-hop grounder past Colts third basemen Hunter Auck.

The Colts responded in the bottom of the third inning thanks to two errors, two walks and two wild pitches to tie the game at three apiece. Clear Fork shortstop Hunter Boyer then lined a single to right field giving the Colts a 4-3 lead.

It appeared Archbold would tie the game in the top of the fifth when Colts starter Mitch Dulin allowed two bunt singles and a walk to load the bases. Clear Fork Head Coach Rusty Staab turned to his bullpen and Sophomore Jalen Sherriff, who induced two pop outs and a groundout to escape the jam unscathed.

Sherriff then struck out the side in the sixth before allowing a leadoff single to Walker in the seventh. Walker was sacrificed to second, then with one out, Bryce Williams appeared to have laced a game-tying line drive down the right field line, but Dulin was there to make a leaping catch for the second out. Ian Radabaugh then popped out to the catcher in foul territory to end the game and clinch a spot in the Division III Final Four for the Colts where they will face Waynedale next Friday afternoon at 1 P.M. at Huntington Park in Columbus. - Brian Skowronski
